Leupold VX-6 | Series Overview

In 2013 Leupold introduced 6 new scopes in their VX-6 Series. It calls VX-6 because all scopes in this series have 6:1 zoom ratio.

Before 2013 Leupold VX-6 was introduced by four models: 1-6×24 CDS, 1-6×24 CDS Illuminated reticle, 2-12×42 CDS, 2-12×42 CDS Illuminated reticle.

In the beginnig of 2013 Leupold has introduced 4 new models: 3-18×44 Side Focus CDS, 3-18×44 Side Focus CDS Illuminated reticle, 3-18×50 Side Focus CDS, 3-18×50 Side Focus CDS Illuminated Reticle.

In the middle of 2013 two more VX-6 Scopes became available: 4-24×52 Side Focus CDS, 4-24×52 Side Focus CDS Illuminated.

CDS means Custom Dial System. It allows you to change your elevation adjustment considering ballistics of specific loads and calibers. One click is 1/4 MOA. Both 1-6x models and 2-12x with Illuminated reticle includes metric, so you can make adjustments with 1 cm click increment.   New Side Focus turret allows you to make parallax adjustments (focus) while you look trough your scope.

Another innovation that was implemented in Leupold VX-6 is Xtended Twilight Lens System. I will not go trough all explanation how it works here. Simply because I have already did it in one of my articles that soon will be available in my blog. It worse to mention that this system represents different lens coating that allows VX-6 rifle scope to transmit more light in the twilight conditions. Therefore in the low light conditions using Leupold VX-6 you will get brighter image with higher definition. And Leupold claims that no other manufacturer will provide you with such light transmission.

VX-6 models with Illuminated Reticles have FireDot in the center of it. The whole reticle does not illuminate, just a FireDot. It turns on by the pushing of gold bottom at the left side of the rifle scope. Brightness is adjustable from 0 to 12. Leupold VX-6 has motion detector inside of it, so it turns reticle off if there is no movement whiting 5 minutes.  When you start move your scope it automatically turns illumination on.
